The question is which explanation as to why Jews supposedly did the ritual murder applies to the Greek case in the Hasmonean era? Was it to cure Jewish male menstruation (the accusation in Tyrnau, Austria in 1494) or was it in reenactment of the killing of Jesus, (Simon of Trent case, 1475), which would happen 150 years later after the Hasmonean accusation?

The author of the review, for instance, extrapolates what Toaff himself is very clear about may have been the practice of a small subset of Jews to say it was the practice of Jews all over Europe and then extrapolates it further to the beginnings of Christianity. Toaff is very clear about the restricted time period and geographical area in his accusations. Found some information regarding this book. You're incorrect to say that Toaff found it was true, only that he didn't believe that all the confessions were false.
